  • International students and stocks

    Hello,

I worked on my OPT for a year. And i invested in stocks while on OPT and did earn a little. My question is after i transfer to university can i still continue with stocks ? My visa status is still F1 status. Please let me know if i can invest in stocks and how much do they tax international students on money earned? Also what if we make a good amount from stocks? As F1 status does not allow us to make any money while in US.

    Thank you!

You can NOT earn wages but you can invest in stocks. Both are different things.

      Yes, that is true:

F1 student: There is restriction for working, except INS authorization! But there is no such restriction for F1 student for not investment!

      All the best!
