I obtained my masters degree in May. Used up nearly all of my 90 days of unemployment before accepting a full time job in August. I have since left the job and am having serious difficulty securing employment in my field of study.
My window for allowable unemployment is closing but my girlfriend (of 7 years) who is a a US Citizen and I would like to get married and adjust my status.
My question is, what should my course of action be in the short term to ensure that I am not violating OPT guidelines while pursuing my green card.
Once i apply for/file my change of status am i still legally to work in the US or do i have to remain unemployed during the 6-8 month process?
I am in dire need of any help that anyone can offer who may have been, in or know of, a similar situation.
