Hi everyone. I recently got admitted with a $30k funding for Ph.D. My total expenses as per I20 are $29k inclusive of my dependent's $4k. However, the university asked me to show the $4k separately, which I did by showing a distant brother-in-law's bank statement. Now in the interview, I can clearly say that my expenses are covered by the school's funding and that the $4k sponsorship from my brother-in-law is extra, but my question is will they still ask to see the bank statement. If they do so, can I change my sponsor at the time or does it have to be the same person whose bank statement I provided for the I20? Should I get an affidavit of support along with the bank statement from the person? Please advise!
