  • Permit To Work In The United States-F1 Visa

    Hi,

My Cousin Is From Mexico And Will Be Coming To Texas To Study At El Paso Community College. She Does Not Have Alot Of Money And Will Be Living With Me For Now. She Would Like To Get A Job While She Is In School So That She Can Pay For Her Expensives And Help Support Her Parents While She Is Here. How Can She Get A Work Permit To Work In The United States And How Much Is The Fee. What Are The Requirments And How Can She Get Started.

    Thank You!!

If she can't afford tuition, she won't get a student (F) visa, it will not be an issue.

If she can get a visa, then she can work on a limited basis as part of her educational requirements (internship, residency, practical training). She would need the school's permission to work on campus but would need USCIS permission to work off campus.

In certain cases, when a student's financial support suffers based on changed circumstances after starting school, she might get permission to work with both school permission and USCIS permission. The work cannot interfere with the coursework.

The situation you describe is inconsistent with the student visa purpose and requirements.
