H1 to F1

Hi Friends!!!!

I am new to this forum and I find this to be very informative!!! coming to my case I came here on a H1 visa and now want to change to F1 visa in order to pursue higher studies...the universtiy said that they would change the status from H1 to F1...what I would like to know is, can I go to any other country to get my visa ( stamping ) or is it necessary to go home country??? any info on this would be appreciated, thank you.

H1 to F1

You can let your school to change F1 for you first. Then you go to Canada or Mexico to get stamp. Of course you can go back to your home country and apply F1 Visa there also. But I recommend that you get your F1 first from school before you leave out of the country.

thankyou very much for your reply...now I have another doubt...will it be a problem for me to change to H1 from F1 after completion of my program..
