Hi,
I'm a grad student from India. I was on an F1 visa, which expired in august, but my I-20 is valid till september 2011. I am planning to go to Mexico over the holidays, using Automatic Revalidation to re-enter the US. As of May 2010, Indian citizens no longer need a visa to enter Mexico (for tourism, under 30 days etc), as long as they have a US visa. I'm getting conflicting info about if this rule extends to having legal status in the US, but not a visa per se. I spoke to officer at Mexican consulate (Chicago) and they said it would not be a problem, but the airlines tells me that if I don't meet the requirements exactly as stated, the person checking me in at the airport won't let me board the plane.
I'd love to get some feedback...thanks!
