Hi All,
I completed my masters in the US and came back to India earlier this year. I had a US F-1 visa valid for 5 years (from 2007 to 2012) for the same. Now I have received a PhD admit from the same university for Spring 2011 semester with a new I-20. I have taken a visa interview date on 5th January 2011 for this. However while taking visa dates I checked "yes" for the following question "Are you applying the same class of visa which is currently valid or has expired within the past 12 months?". Due to this I believe my interview letter states "case type: Visa Renewal". I am not sure if this is right (non immigrant visa cannot be renewed according to the VFS website). Can anyone tell me if this is correct/ wrong and how to proceed further. Please help.
