How to apply for UK background check if I am living in China?

I am from Scotland and I moved to China one year ago. I am changing employers in summer and to make to process smoother I am going to apply for a new background check now, just in case the new place router login 192.168.l.l.link/ (depending on the province) requires it to save time.

Anyone could advise me where I have to request a UK background check while living in China?

Do I just go to the UK embassy?
