  • Question for STEM OPT while being unemployed

Hello, currently on STEM OPT and have to get out of the US due to an emergency. I am unemployed and actively applying for the job. Can I leave US ? And is it recommended to travel?

Can I come back with an offer letter? Any tips or recommendations will be highly appreciated. Thank you

If you are on STEM OPT and currently unemployed, it is crucial to be aware of the 150-day unemployment limit over the entire 36-month period (including the initial 90 days from regular OPT). To maintain your status, you should actively seek employment, internships, or unpaid training opportunities related to your field of study. If your unemployment period is approaching the limit, consider options like transferring to another visa status lightroom all version, enrolling in a new academic program, or leaving the U.S. to avoid violating your status.
