going to india during opt

hi friends,
first of all thank you very much for posting some important messages which r helpful to all of us.

i m on my O.P.T. and it ends on october 5th.
is it safe to travel to india during opt?
i want to go india in april and come back in august by learning some software courses.
i had admission in computer science for fall 2005.
while coming back can i show my admission letter for fall 2005 or is it necessary to take new I-20 for fall 2005 becuse i had my I-20 which shows that i am on OPT?
or can i show any offer letter from my friend's company and tell them that i will be joining in their firm in august and they will sponsor my H-1?
