Consequences of different names on Visa and Passport

Hello,

Sorry if this is not the right forum for my query.

I am getting married in May' 05 in India. I am on H1B and my fiance is on F1 doing her PhD (So She is NOT a dependent). She would like to change last name in her passport to Married name. So she will have married name on her passport but maiden name on her visa. Will that be a problem while coming back to US? Is there an easy way to just change name on F1 Visa while we are there? Or we have to go through the same appointment procedures?

Any help appreciated.

hi friend,
let your wife come on f-1 visa back to usa after your marriage. do not change the name in india.
you can change here.
just go to social security office and give them your marriage certificate then they will take her old ssn card and give her a new card by mail after changing her name.
