  • Traveling after I-20 start date

    Hi,

How long after the start date mentioned on I-20 can one travel, if one has a valid F1 visa and a letter from the university? Will there be a problem at port of entry on arriving late?

    Thanks!

It will be good if your school international advisor confirms you on e-mail that your SEVIS record will be active on the day of travel.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

He said yes, but did not give any last date. How late beyond the start date can I go?

You must register for classes in the immediate semester and be prepared to start attending. So last date depends on how late you can join classes. Your faculty and the international advisor can answer that best.
What is it that you are planning to do exactly? Which school program are you going for?
