  • Two CPT in one summer - any concerns?

    Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone has come across any issues around doing two CPTs in one summer for two different employers.

One job is 40hr/week and the other is 10hr/week - So, its not a hard thing to manage, but i was wondering if this will have any negative impact in the future while getting an OPT or filing tax returns with IRS o anything else.

Appreciate any help on this query.

    Thanks!

Per law, you are allowed to work for more than 40 hrs / week on CPT. CPT HAS to be in the field of your study as well. You can work for multiple employers as long as the no of hours does not exceed 40 hrs / week.

I doubt anyone from income tax department is going to knock on your door, but your school should have a problem, and should not issue valid i20's for this scenario in the first place. Since it is against the law [unless special cases - which I am not aware of], further application for OPT and other CPT's may be a problem. Also your CPT should not exceed 365 / year else your OPT will become void.
