I am a green card holder. I am study engineering from india and its last semester to to complete my engineering. So how much time can i stay in india to complete my study? can i stay for the 10 month in india?

Of course, but make sure you enter USA just after that. If you stay oversea for 12 months, you need a re-entry permit which can cost money and time! Hope that help you.

If you stay outside for more than 6 months, you may be asked to prove that you have maintained residence in the US.
For more than 1 year, your green card is deemed to be abandoned.
AFAIK re-entry permit can only be applied for when you are in the US.
