Hi,
This is Nikhil Pandey from India. I am currently working in a US based firm's Mumbai office. I'll be transferred permanently to the headquarters in US this July with a temporary L1 visa. Meanwhile my employer has also filed a petition for me getting H1B visa status, which I'm expecting in October,2011. Meanwhile, I plan to apply for a Ph.D. in Mathematics in USA for Fall 2012. (I'll quit my job, if I get admission which I expect to get)
My question is:
1)On getting selected for admission I want to quit the job in US in May,2012, come back to India and apply for a F1 visa so that I can start attending classes from July/August 2012. Can that be done?
2)If instead of coming back from US, I apply for a change of status from H1B to F1 in May 2012, how long will that take? Do I need to continue with my job till my status is changed?
Please throw some light on these doubts.
