Does F2 need to renew if F1 is renewing?

Hi,

I am a PhD student on F1 visa. My F1 has expired. My wife is on F2 visa and it is good for next 2 yrs. I am planning to visit my family in India and I need to renew my F1 to come back to US. Does my wife also need to go with me to India and renew her F2 or she can stay here in US? Thanks a lot for your time.
