could any one of you please clarify the steps that a OPT STEM application goes thru? When i applied for the OPT after graduation, i received a letter stating that it is approved and USCIS will be sending me the EAD card soon. I was also able to check the status of it online by the receipt number. I recently applied for STEM extension and received a Notice of Action letter (Which i didnt get when first applied for plain OPT) from USCIS stating that my application has been received and its under process. And this time, my receipt number doesnt even come up on USCIS website if i try to check the status online. I called USCIS to ask why does it say Invalid receipt number when i enter it on USCIS website, the rep said because its not supposed to and actually the first rep had said your inormation is not even in system.
Please shed some light on this and clarify the process if you can. Thanks in advance.
