  • Help! Need advice about OPT application!

I applied for my OPT without first consulting my international student adviser.
I sent in all the documents that were listed as required on the USCIS website.

However, I later found out that I needed to have included an I-20 document with a recommendation for OPT, and that my OPT would likely be denied without it.

Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do in this situation?

I called the USCIS regarding the matter and asked if I could send in the missing document separately, but they said to wait until I received a letter explicitly asking for any missing documents.

It's been 2 months now. I've received the receipt to show that my OPT has been accepted.
My adviser said that my OPT would be promptly denied and that when that happens I should reapply. So is it a good sign that I haven't heard back yet for this long?

What should I do??? Should I mail in my I-20 separately anyways?
If I wait for the entire 3 months and my OPT is denied, will I get a chance to reapply and if so will it take another 3 months to process?
Or will a denial be final and will I have to leave the country?

Please help! I don't know what to do about this!!!!

When are you graduating? There is some limit on how late you can apply. If the DSO is willing to generate I-20 with recommendation, there is no harm in sending that with a copy of the receipt notice and cover letter explaining it.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
