Returning student valid F1 visa

I have been approved an F-1 visa to pursue my Masters
in fall 2008 for 5 years and I have completed my Masters in dec 2010. I did not
applied for OPT. Eventually, I came back to India

I am now planning to go for my Phd for spring 2012
for the same university.Since I have a F1 visa stamped valid till sep 2013
for the same university, do I need to appear in US
consulate for visa stamping again. Will I have any problem at the port
of entry with the current visa I have.

Please let me know if I can go with the curent visa or do I need to get
an other visa stamped for Phd in order to pursue Phd.

you dont have to...if you have a valid I-20 for your PhD
