Hai this is Aravind,
I am a student, I completed my Masters Degree ( ELECTRICAL & COMPUTER ENGINEERING ) and graduated on April 29, 2011. I am in OPT period currently, which started on April 2. I joined CONSULTANCY (e Verified) and got a job as contractor. Currently I am working in a reputed company.
I am thinking to go back to INDIA some time in OCTOBER 2011 for 2 Weeks.
Is it safe to go to INDIA while i am on OPT. What are the documents that i need to carry to show the officer at the port of entry. I did my masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering but I am working as a Software Programmer in a reputed company as contractor. Do i need to carry a client letter with me. I am taking a letter from my Employer(Consultancy) which says that I am working in the field of my Major (Electrical and Computer Engineering). So how really important is the client letter. Do i need to have pay stubs too.
My consultancy, My university and The place where I am working are at 3 different places. To be on the safe side, i am assuming i should enter in to the country(Port of Entry) which is close to my consultancy. I am assuming New York JFK is good place for Port of entry. Because it is close to both my university and Consultancy ( because when i get the letter from my employer it will have the address of my employer on it). My current work place is in Texas. Does it really matters if I have my port of entry in TEXAS. What are the other things that i need to take care in order to get in to the country safely.
