Change of visa status from F1 to J1
Hi there,
I would like to ask anyone who could help me in my situation for advice. I am about to apply for a F1 visa as I am going to study 1 semester in the US from January to May 2012. Afterwards I would really like to spend also the rest of summer in the US on Work and Travel programme, as I did last year.
My question is, whether it is somehow possible to extend my stay and change my status from F1 to J1 while studying in the US without having to fly back and reapply for J1 visa in my homeland or whether it is possible to extend my stay if I would directly apply for J1 instead of F1 visa, .
Any advice or recommendation will be extremely appreciated.
