i m just posting some information about f2 visa here what i have seen on the net--
F2 / M2 Applicants:
1.What is F-2 dependent visa?
The F-2 dependent visa is a nonimmigrant visa which allows dependent spouses and children of student visa holders to enter into the U.S.

2.What privileges do I enjoy on F2 visa ?
On F2 visa, you may:
Enter the U.S. along with your spouse or join him or her later•
Travel in and out of the U.S. or remain in the U.S. continuously as long as you maintain valid F-2 status

3.How long can I stay in the U.S. on F-2 visa?
You may stay in the U.S. as long as the principal F-1 visa holder maintains valid status. You lose your status once the principal applicant loses F-1 status.

4.Can I work on F-2 visa?
No, you may not take up paid employment while in the U.S. on F-2 visa.

5.Can I study on F-2 visa?
As an F-2 spouse you may not engage in full time study and F-2 child may only engage in full time elementary or secondary
school (kindergarten through twelfth grade) study. F-2 spouse or child may engage in a study that is vocational or recreational in nature.
6.How do I apply for F-2 visa?
To apply for F-2 visa, you must submit:
Completed Form I-20A-B, Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status, that is used by the F-1 prospective applicant•
Filled in Form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application
One recent photograph (37 x 37mm) of each applicant, with the entire face visible. The picture should be taken before a light background
A passport, valid for travel to the U.S. for at least six months longer than your intended visit•
Copy of your marriage certificate in case you are a dependent spouse
Marriage photographs or wedding invitations
Evidence of sufficient funds for your support
Evidence that you will depart when the student's education is completed

Note: If you are joining the prospective student later, you will need to submit Form I-20 A-B, endorsed from the school that
the F-1 student is attending.
7.Where do I apply for F-2 visa?•
If you are in a lawful status in the U.S., submit the visa application to a USCIS field office in the U.S.
If you are outside the U.S., submit the visa application to the U.S. consular office where you reside
8.What is the processing time for F-2 visa?
The processing time for F-2 is generally one business day. The visa issued on the same day the application is made.
9.Can I extend my stay while on F-2 visa?
F-1 and F-2 are admitted for 'duration of stay'. As long as the principal F-1 maintains status as a student the F-2 is not required to
seek extension of stay.
10.Can I change status while on F-2 visa?
Yes, you may apply for change of status while on F-2 visa.
11. Are there any travel restrictions on F2 visas?
No, there are no travel restrictions on F-2 visa. You may travel as many times as possible, provided you maintain valid F status.
Employment
An F2 visa holder may not accept employment. He or she must obtain a work visa.
Study
An F2 visa holder may engage in full or part time study.
 Derivative status (F2, J2, and H4) applicants must bring evidence of their relationship to the principal alien, proof of the principal alien's legal status in the U.S. (a copy of the I-20, DS-2019, or 1-797 plus a photocopy of his/her visa), and evidence of financial support while in the United States. F2 and J2 applicants. need to be sure that the school in U.S. has entered their information into SEVIS

11. Show your spouse’s bank statement in USA.
12. Do you know anyone in USA?
13. What will you do if your visa is rejected?
14. What is the future plan of your spouse?
15. When you got married?
16. Why you didn’t apply for F2 visa for you when your spouse applied for F1?
17. Show me your marriage photographs and marriage card.
18. How many persons attended your marriage?
19. Why she/he has not come here during this summer break?
20. When she/he got the visa?
21. Can you take any exam there in USA?

F2 visa questions

My visa interview for F2 visa was on 2nd june at Delhi Consulate and I got it. Here I m writing the questions asked from me.
VO-- Show me ur passport
Me— it is here sir (I gave my passport and I-20 which was stapled with that.)
VO-- Where u want to go?
Me-- I want to go …….(I told the name of the State and City where my wife is pursuing her degree)
VO-- Why you want to go?
Me-- I want to go usa to join and support my wife who is feeling very lonely and homesick without me and remaining sad and depressed all the time…VO stops me in between
VO-- ok u are not student urself, u want to go to join your wife?( till now vo was thinking that I am student myself)
Me--yes sir, I want to join my wife.
VO--ok show me ur marriage certificate.
(He went inside after asking this and came after 3-4 minutes)
Me—here it is sir
VO—Where is ur wife in usa?
Me—I told him the state and city where my wife is pursuing her studies
VO—What she is studying?
Me—I told him the degree she is pursuing
VO—Which univ ?
Me—I told him the name of univ.
VO—when u got married
Me—we got married on …..
VO—when she went usa?
Me—she went us on…., just 15 days after our marriage.
VO—did you know each other before marriage?
Me—No sir, it was an arranged marriage.
VO—where you got married ?
Me—in our hometown……, sir
VO—show me ur marriage photographs
Me—here are the photographs, sir ( I gave him the album having almost 20 photos. he gave it back after seeing 4-5 photos)
VO—ok u give this sticker to courier service at the courier counter. He kept my I 20 and passport and gave me THAT sticker.
Me—Thankyou very much sir.
And I came from there to courier counter to give that sticker and write my on the envelope given by them so that they can send my passport with visa and my I 20.
