COS to F-1 status?

Can we avail of OPT if we are on F-1 visa for only the semester in which we graduate? LEt's say I'm gradauting in Spring 2012 then is it ok if I get the F-1 visa done in Dec before classes start? Will I still be eligible for OPT after the program?

The law states that you need to be a full-time student for at least 1 academic year before you can apply for OPT. Whether full-time study in another status counts or not is a matter of contention. Ask your school's DSO about their policy in this matter.
