Hi,
My wife is currently studying in the US for her Master's program on a H4 Visa/Status at Arizona State University. She has already finished a semester and she has an opportunity to work with her professor on a research project from next semester and so she wants her status/visa changed to F1 so that she can work on Campus.
We have got a new I-20 for her from the university and have also paid the 200$ Sevis fee online. We will be travelling to India in December for 3 weeks and she plans to take a Visa appointment for her F1 Visa when in India.
On the I-20 that she has got for initial attend ace, the date of the start of the semester is Jan 5th 2012. We are reaching the US on the 7th of Jan as all her classes start after Jan 12th. On the I20 it says that she needs to report back in the US no later than Jan 5th.
Will there be a problem at immigration at the port of entry (LA) because we are arriving 2 days after January 5th?
