Can an overseas bank account be used (for proof of funds) for F1 visa interview?

Hi all,

I was working abroad for a couple of years and then came back to India 1.5 years back for good. But I have retained my bank account in that country since I hold a resident permit for that country.

This overseas account has sufficient funds for my planned US studies. I have also shown this account balance for obtaining the I-20.

Will it be a problem for me to show an overseas bank account (for proof of funds) during the F-1 visa interview in Chennai? Can anybody speak from experience/knowledge?

Hi I have a similar question about the K3 spouse visa. should we have to submit the affidavit of support would I need to show money within a Unites States bank account?
