Urgent Travel after graduation-F1 status.

Hello there,

I am a graduating student. I complete my bachelor's degree in Dec.22,2011. My commencement ceremony is on 27 Jan. 2012, which i want to attend. In the mean time, i have something urgent that require to travel back to my country. Now, my question is, will i be able to come back for commencement ceremony? What could be my option to come back to US, if i need to travel during time period. My visa is valid until 2015.
I haven't applied for OPT, but it that helps and would provide me a reason to come back to US, i still have few days to apply for it. Though i wouldn't have the EAD card when i travel because it usually takes about 2-3 months to arrive, i could still apply in support to maintain my status.

Please suggest what i should do?

Hai bideshi111,
I am assuming you should be good. Firstly, i would like to know if u are doing your master's or bachelor's. Are you all done with your course work including project or thesis defence.

You will probably need to apply for OPT. Speak with your school's DSO. Also read F student FAQ on ICE website.
