F1-OPT to B1/B2 to H1B - Good Idea? Issues?

Hi,

I was recently laid off towards the end of my OPT and was unable to apply for my 17 month STEM extension. I'm currently on my F1-OPT 60-day grace period. I was planning on applying for a second MS program and have my I-20 reinstated but I may not have sufficient funds to support myself.

I'm considering switching to a B1/B2, interview for jobs and have the new employer file for my H1B. Will I face any issues/scrutiny now or in the future (should I decide to file for GC) when they see that I went from F1 to B1/B2 to H1B. I've been repeatedly asked NOT to pursue this route by many of my international friends and family. I spoke to an attorney who was unable to give me a convincing answer on going this route.

I would really appreciate input on this!

NO, You can not Change your status from F-1 to B-1/B-2. Not Possible.
You have to have admission in new course if ur planning to extend ur stay.There is no other way.
