OPT Extension and H1B question...

Hello, I am currently on OPT Extension and my OPT extension will expire in Dec 2012. I am working as a consultant for my client who is not everified but they willing to take me on board by filing for my H1B in April. My consulting company through which I am currently working is everified.

So my questions are:
1. Is there a rule that one should work for only everified company on OPT extension?
2. If my client files my H1B in April and its approved can I directly join them before Oct 2012. (The time when H1b starts)

You will have to wait until Oct 1 to join them unless they enroll in EVerify.

OPT Extension under STEM

Hi,

I have completed my MBA in Information technology. My degree has Master of Business Administration written on it. But my transcript has my major as "Information Technology". Also, most importantly, the CIP code on my I-20 is 11.0103 (Information technology). This CIP code is eligible for the 17-months OPT Extension under STEM.

My question is that am I eligible for the 17-Months OPT extension if my MBA degree's CIP code is 11.0103?

I'd really appreciate any help with this.

Yes, they go by the CIP code on your I-20.
