F2 or B2 for spouse

Hi

I am going for Masters in Science in US. My course starts September 2012. My country of origin is India.


My spouse is also going for further studies in France. She has 16 month course starting from September 2012. During year end vacations(around 2 weeks) and summer vacations(around 2 months) she plans to visit me. Also, after her studies she may join me as dependent or visit frequently(if she is working in home country/elsewhere).

Which US visa should she apply,dependent visa(F2) or any other visa(B2). Please guide me on this.

Both are possible. For a short trip, she can apply for B2 so that she will need to show less available funding than F2. Both Visas require that she show ties to her home country.
