  • H4 to F1 COS: funds and other requirements

    Hi there. Need some help.

I am on H4, and would like to try for COS to F1.

What is the minimum amount of liquid assets that the sponsor must maintain in order for a COS to go through?

I have heard that the sponsor must have the amount equivalent to that mentioned on the I-20 ( two semesters of tuition fees + living expenses ). Is this information correct?

Who all can be a sponsor apart from parents and spouse? Can my brother sponsor my education?

Let us say the minimum funds required is $25,000. Should the sponsor(s) have maintained this balance for the past 6 months?

I am thinking of taking admission into a relatively unknown university (Virginia International University). They are accredited by ACICS. I checked ACICS website, and it says accreditation is valid till 2015. Will taking admission in such a university hamper my chances of COS acceptance?
