H4 to F1 Transfer at Chennai
Hello there,
I am in the US on a H4 visa and applied for my PhD in Marketing and got the I-20 few weeks back from the University. The International Office at the University asked me to go to India for the conversion as it takes longer to apply for the change of status from the US.
My question- My passport was issued from Assam but my husband is from Bangalore. Since his H1 was stamped at Chennai, my H4 was stamped in Chennai too in March 2011. Can I go to Chennai for my F1 stamping or do I need to go to Kolkata for stamping as my home consulate ?? Please let me know more on this because I need to get my interview dates in a week's time..My husband and I have bank accounts in Bangalore and our marriage was registered in Bangalore last year soon after we got married..
