My F1 visa is till March 2013. I have just got my OPT approved and looking for a job. I am planning to travel to India.

When is the best time to travel and return back without any hurdles??

Yes, you can travel on OPT as long as you are carrying your OPT EAD, Letter from your employer that states you are coming back to continue your work. In this case the letter is important.
