I have a L-1A and my husband has an L-2 accordingly, we are both Canadian citizens. We are currently in the process of filing for adjustment of status.
The problem is that my husband's EAD is expiring one month from now, and the California Service Center is taking upwards of five months to issue new EADs (we filed two months ago). We could not do the EAD renewal right away as we needed to do the L-1/L-2 renewal first.
It looks like my husband will need to leave his job if the EAD is not issued on time. In that case we will probably need to leave the USA, which we really do not want to do. Is it possible for someone currently holding a L-2 visa to have an employer sponsor him under TN? The employer definitely wants to keep him on.
