Hi everyone,
I currently have a TN Visa. I tried to register with an online stock broker and during the application process I was requested to fill out a W9 form, which I later learned is used to fill out 1099 forms at end of year.
I don't understand, is the stock market not passive income? As a result of the W9 would I need to fill out a 1099? I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to, so this means what, I simply can't trade in the stock market?
