URGENT UK transit visa info needed

Hi,

I am going to India to get my H1B visa stamped and I am currently on a valid F1 visa (till 2014) . My OPT however is not valid.

I will be transiting through the UK as I have a stopover. I will only be changing planes. I wont be getting out of security check.

I am confused now as to whether I need a airside transit visa or not. I have only 12 days left for my travel.

I have seen many old posts like this but if there is anyone who has been through this situation recently or knows what the deal is, please let me know asap.

Sorry for the redundancy, but I have heard that the UK laws have changed recently. Does anyone have any idea about this?
