C1/D visa

Please can you advise how much time a C1/D visa holder is permitted between arriving in the US by air and joining the respective ship one is going to be working on - and vice versa, how much time is permitted after disembarking the vessel until such time one is required to leave the US?

Is it 24 hours? 48 hours? Please can you advise?
