Transit Visa for Uk

Hi,

I am traveling to India via Virgin Atlantic. I have an H1B Approval and need to get a visa in India. My itinerary is Newark-Heathrom-Mumbai and return. Do I need to get a Transit visa? If so, then for what journey I need to get one

You need it while going to Mumbai for sure. Assuming you will have a valid visa to return to US, you don't need it for your return trip.
