Transit though USA time required to collect baggage and complete security

Hi

My mom is flying from india to canada transiting through USA and the time gap from arrival to her connecting flight to canada is only 1.20 min.

Wanted to know from peoples experience how much time is normally needed to collect the bags, go through immigration and recheckin for her connecting flight.

That should be fine as long as you are heading out of the US.

However if you were coming into the US from canada, they do US immigration in Canada and it takes forever there....
