Enquiry Pertaining to Visa Waiver Program

I am querying regarding Visa Waiver Program. I am an AUS citizen who has had his student visa denied when I had an Indian passport. Not sure if this is going to cause hiccups with my visa waiver application.
Please advise.

You don't qualify for the VWP if you've ever been denied a visa. The denial is tied to you, not your passport. But, if you qualify for a visa, you'll likely be given one for 10 years.
