  • Visa Waiver

I am not quite familiar with the use of a Visa Waiver and am trying to help a fellow employee with his. If you could please provide some information regarding this particular situation I would appreciate it.

Our traveller received a Visa Waiver when he travelled by car for business purposes from Canada to the U.S. This travel document was received on March 11, 2010 with an expiry date of June 9, 2010. As he was not on a flight, and when he returned home after only a couple, he did not surrender his Visa Waiver at the border, nor was he asked for it. He was uncertain if he would require the waiver before this June expiry date so thought nothing of keeping it. However, now that the expiry date is 2 days away and he will more than likely have to travel to the US in the very near future how will this travel be affected.

I believe from what I understand on a website that this document must be returned to the Department of Homeland Security. Can you please confirm what should be done and also advise how he can apply for a current copy of the Visa Waiver. This employee has also applied for an ESTA. Will this replace the Visa Waiver, making it unnecessary to reapply for the Waiver?
