Need an i94 to prove legal presence

The California DMV require "proof of legal presence" for me to temporarily renew my license. In the past a green i94w has done just fine.

When I entered the US a few days ago, I wasn't issued an i94w (its all done through ESTA now apparently), and consequentially have not been able to get a drivers license.

My question is - is there a way I can get hold of an i94w, or some other way I can prove my status to the DMV?

Hello,

There wouldn't be a way to get a copy of the I94 at this point. You will want to use one of the other approved documents as evidence.
