Marriage in USA with VWP

I came into the US on a visa waiver, now want to marry my US girlfriend, whose divorce took to long to have time for the K1-route via the Netherlands.

Now I wonder if I have to leave the US, or if we can immigrate after we're married. If it's possible to marry here. If it's possible for me to immigrate via Mexico in case we have to go abroad to get married.
Is it possible for me to come back into the US after staying one night in Mexico?

We are musicians, without regular jobs, I heard that makes it harder too to get a green card for me.

Hope to get enough info here since we can't afford expensive lawyers.
