Can I work for my US employer for a week in the US?

Hi! I work remotely for a US employer (in Florida) as a contractor. I live in the UK. I would like to visit my company for one week and I would like to know if I can keep working for them while I'm there there. I would be travelling in the visa waiver program, which I know normally means no working for a US company. However it doesn't seem right if I can't work for the company when I already work for them from the UK! I'm not sure how me continuing my work while there would make any difference to the US government.

Can anyone offer any information?

You can enter on the VWP as a business visitor, and conduct "business" tasks, but you can't actually perform "work" while you are in the US.

Yes, you'll have to define what you mean by work. Some of that may qualify as a business task.
