visitor visa sponsor document query

i am sponsoring my mother-in-law for visitor visa.i got my visa stamped through canada u.s. consulate.i applied my wife's extension based on my visa and it is in process right now.my question here is do i need to wait for my wife's extension to be approved or i can go ahead and apply visitor visa for my mother-in-law based on my visa?
please help as soon as possible.thanks a bunch in advance for your answer.
