Hello,
Trying to determine exactly how the Schengen Visa will affect me. I accepted a job based in the UK. This job will have me travel to multiple other countries, including in the Schengen area. Countries I will be covering with my position: Ireland, UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Denmark (and could be occasionally asked to help other territories out).
I am a USA passport holder. I just renewed my passport so it’s good for another 10 years.
It looks like I am able to travel 90 days within a 6 month period in the Schengen area. After the 90 days are used I would then have to stay out of Schengen area for 90 days to ‘reset’ the counter. (is that right?)
It looks like the visa also only allows 90 days within 6 month period. If I get the visa does that mean the 90 day ‘reset’ time isn’t needed? But I then need to apply for another Schengen visa? So every time I hit 90 days (in Schengen area) or 6 months time (whichever hits first) I’d have to reapply for a Schengen visa? This could be rather tiresome.
If I were to do 90 days without a visa, and then get a Schengen visa, would that allow me to skip the 90 days staying outside the Schengen area?
