visa query

my visa interview is due in last week of july.in form ds-156 i mentioned my date of travel to US as 16nth aug.(i applied in april).i also provided a detail itinerary.
now my plan is changed and i want to travel in first week of october.
i want to know ,suppose if i get visa can i travel anytime during the period or should i mention my change of plan during visa interview?? will it affect my chances of getting visa??

If you get the visa, the minimum you will get is a 6 month visa (you may get
more) and you can travel anytime during the visa validity.

If the travel dates are asked about,you can
tell him/her the reason for change of plans.
