  • visitor visa question

    Hi ,

My mothers visitors visa was rejected on 7th July under section 214 B. They just looked at the documents. Asked her how long she wants to stay(6 months) and refused her a visa

I am pregnant and need her here asap. trying to get her an appointment. If everything works out and by chance gets an appointment in aug will it be ok to go back this early?

Also, we don't have any property in india. Can i send some money to putinto her account and will it be ok.Also myfather, younger brother (unmarried and)and sister(married) are there.

Can anything be done in such a situation? how can I show any other ties to India.

    any suggestions will be great.

    thanks

I think she should have answered with a shorter period of stay (say 3 months). When you enter US, the inspectors usually give you a stay of 6 months anyway.

What were the documents she presented? How much wealth did she show?Is she a housewife or does she have a job? Did the consular say " insufficient
funds" or "Ï do not think you will come back".
Depends on answers to these qs.

Advisably, she should wait a few months (5-6) before reapplying.
Applying so soon without much change won't get any results and
it'd show desperation to go which consulars do not like.

Let her get a statement of whatever savings /deposits/ equity
they have, prepared by a CA. Club both the husband's and wife's
savings under one header(statement of assets for-------Father name
and --------mother name) so you get a big figure.
You could send some money, but very big sums adding to her
savings in so short a period may arouse suspicion.
Instead, if she waits for a few months, you can send her some
amount every month which will boost her balance.

Well she did not show any bank balance since the agent who arranged for her documents said that it was not required. Basically she had only the documents we sent. I need her by the end of aug. I really don't know how to
      handle this situation.

Will a letter from the local congressman help?

I think the agent misled your mother seriously. Financial base and assets
at home country are extremely important, they prove ties to home country
        which consulars really look for.

A letter to your congressman would be very naive.He/she has no
rights to influence a consular's decision and it in fact may create a
bias against future applications by your mom. Anyway it is not a situation that
demands a congressman's intervention. You can always hire a domestic
help in the US. Mothers give birth to their children without their mothers all the time.

If you are so desperate, try an immigration attorney in US (look
for a good one)He/She can help prepare your mother's app and how to answer
        qs at the interview.

        Hope that helps

          Chavi,

What purpose did you write in DS-156 and in your other letters and at which Consulate it was rejected? Did they ask another questions?
