what happnes at Port of entery?I94 question

Please share your expreince about I94, how much stay maximum is given at the Port of entery...
What documents do they see at that time..??
can someone explain the process in detail..

It is not like the interview at the consulate.
Two quick questions; purpose of visit?
and how long do you want to stay?
If there are no irregularities like previous overstays it is not a problem.
You do not need to carry all documents that you carried to the consulate.
Just carry one basic letter of invitation .

Visitors are usually given 6 months on their I-94.
