  • Visitor visa for parents - both children in USA

    Hi,

My parents are applying for visitor visa to US. Both my borther and I are living in US. Is it OK to tell this fact to the visa officer or should my parents just say that only son is in US? (My brother is on F1 and myself on H1.) Any pros and cons?

    Thanks

You cannot hide it; On DS_156 there is a question that requires you
to answer about each of your immediate relatives in US and about their
status. You should never lie on a DS-156 or to a consular.False presentation
can make you permanently ineligible for any kind of visa.

Does specifying both the children to be in US make the consular officer think that the parents are not going to come back? How good are the chances of getting a visa? Any ideas?

      Thanks,

It depends on what they show and how they answer qs. There is nothing like
parents with 2 or >children in the US not getting any visas.
What they can do is to present the best in terms of their income, assets and
ties to India. And let them keep the duration of stay in US short (2-3 months)
        for the interview.
