Hello everybody,

I need some advice on this. I booked an appointment for my mother in may in delhi as chennai was full till october with the excuse that she wanted to be with me when I delivered in september. we are from the south and chennai is the consulate for our interview.

Now I just learnt that pregnancy as an excuse to come to the US is fatal for my mom to get a visa, so anybody who could guide me on what excuse could be a plausible one for my mom to state that she booked delhi instead of chennai to get a earlier date would be very much appreciated. In the meantime I will try my best to get better dates in chennai. But I really would love for my mom to be with me when I deliver my first child. I am very confused and would like some input on this.

Another question i have is, my mother is not very fluent in english and thats another requirement for people who switch consuls to get earlier appointments . Can i ask for a hindi translator in her case.

Only chennai applicants fluent in English may apply in Delhi.
So , your mom won't get an interpreter.

Your mother will have to provide a very good reason
for getting a preferential date for her interview. (e.g...a medical condition
that needs urgent attention available only in the US)You can't just make up an excuse; Consulars can easily tell an excuse from a real situation.

Suggestion; cancel the Delhi appointment in view of the issues above. Let her go to chennai in routine with good evidence of ties to India and evidence of good funds.
